Job summary

Alexander House Hotel & Utopia Spa in Crawley is seeking a cheerful Kitchen Porter to keep the kitchen clean, safe and ready for service. You will support chefs, run the dishwasher, and help maintain high hygiene standards throughout your shift.

There are early and late shifts available, with an hourly rate up to £12.71 (£14.24 including holiday), plus a monthly service charge and perks such as free parking and uniform.

Qualifications

• No formal qualifications required, but a good standard of English.
• Good eye for detail and energy to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous employment in a food service business is helpful.

Responsibilities

• General kitchen cleaning duties.
• Operate the dishwasher to ensure cutlery and crockery are cleaned and ready for service.
• Refill hot plates for each dining session to keep food hot for guests.
• Deep cleaning tasks as scheduled in the kitchen cleaning plan.
• Maintain high kitchen hygiene standards and comply with Health & Safety policies.
• Assist chefs with basic food preparation.
• Shifts available: 8am–4:30pm and 1:30pm–10pm/3pm–11pm.

The Role

A cheerful, energetic person with a good eye for detail is needed to assist in keeping the kitchen, tidy, clean, safe and make sure it is ready for service.

Without a clean, well-presented environment with clean, hot plates a kitchen fails. During your shift you will be key to us achieving excellent standards for our guests by supporting our chefs with the following duties;

• Completing general kitchen cleaning duties
• Operating the dishwasher to ensure all cutlery, crockery is cleaned in a timely fashion, stacked and ready for service.
• Refilling the hot plate ready for service each dining session to ensure guests get hot food!
• Deep cleaning tasks as outlined on the kitchens cleaning schedule.
• Delivery through all these tasks of exceptional kitchen hygiene standards
• Assisting in providing a safe, secure, and appealing environment by adhering to the company Health &Safety Policies ensuring all kitchen areas are compliant.
• Assisting Chefs with some basic food preparation.
• Shifts available are working early (8am – 4.30pm) and late shifts (1.30pm – 10pm/3pm-11pm).
