Job summary

Qualifications

• Previous proven experience of cleaning, ideally including use of machinery such as scrubber/dryers, carpet cleaners, or steam mops
• Flexible, adaptable, customer-focused approach, meeting deadlines
• Good communication with staff, students, contractors and visitors
• Self-motivated, work independently or in a team with minimal supervision
• Willingness to work evenings and Saturdays on a rota and safeguarding responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning across classrooms, offices, workshops, corridors, kitchens and toilets according to the schedule
• Replenish toilet rolls, soap, hand sanitiser and paper towels
• Operate scrubber/dryers, carpet cleaners and steam cleaners
• Spot and address issues, report defects in furniture or building fabric
• Secure cleaning rooms and offices and follow locked door policy
• Assist with deep cleaning and keep areas free of litter
• Follow safe working practices and COSHH assessments
• Comply with College safeguarding and equality policies

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a committed Cleanerto support the effective delivery of College services and priorities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will:

• Carry out cleaning across all designated areas (classrooms, offices, workshops, corridors, kitchens, toilets) in line with the cleaning schedule
• Replenish consumables such as toilet rolls, soap, hand sanitiser, and paper towels
• Operate cleaning equipment and machinery, including scrubber/dryers, carpet cleaners, and steam cleaners
• Spot and address issues proactively, reporting any defects in furniture, fittings, or building fabric
• Secure cleaning rooms and offices, and follow the locked door policy after cleaning
• Assist with periodic deep cleaning and keep areas free of litter
• Follow safe working practices, including relevant risk and COSHH assessments
• Carry out duties in line with College policies and procedures, including safeguarding and equality commitments

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

• Previous proven experience of cleaning, ideally including use of machinery such as scrubber/dryers, carpet cleaners, or steam mops
• A flexible, adaptable, and customer-focused approach, with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
• Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with College staff, students, contractors, and visitors
• Self-motivated, able to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
• Willingness to work occasional evenings and Saturdays on a rota basis, and suitability to work in an environment involving safeguarding responsibilities
