Job summary

Parker Jones Group Ltd in Southampton and surrounding areas is recruiting an experienced Carpenter Multi-Trade Operative to join a well-established maintenance and property services contractor.

The role involves delivering high-quality carpentry and general multi-trade repairs across social housing properties and schools, with a strong emphasis on first-time fix, safety and resident communication. The position is permanent and onsite across varied sites.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Carpenter Multi-Trade Operative or Carpenter in property maintenance.
• Strong carpentry/joinery skills with ability to perform multi-trade repairs.
• Experience in social housing, schools or similar maintenance environments.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently, manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Relevant carpentry qualifications (NVQ Level 2) desirable.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs, replacements and installations (doors, frames, skirting boards, architraves).
• Undertake general multi-trade maintenance across social housing and school buildings.
• Undertake first and second-fix carpentry and kitchen repairs, refurbishments.
• Carry out basic plumbing, patch plastering, tiling and decorating as needed.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs with a high first-time fix rate.
• Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and minimise disruption to residents.
• Communicate professionally with residents, site contacts and colleagues.
• Accurately record completed works and update job management systems.

Carpenter Multi-Trade Operative

Location: Southampton and surrounding areas

Salary: £39,000 per annum + package

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Carpenter Multi-Trade Operative to join a well-established maintenance and property services contractor in the Southampton area.

This is a permanent opportunity working across a varied portfolio of social housing properties and educational facilities, including schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out high-quality carpentry, repairs and general multi-trade maintenance, ensuring properties and facilities are maintained to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs, replacements and installations, including doors, frames, skirting boards, architraves and general joinery.
• Complete general multi-trade maintenance and repairs across social housing properties and school buildings.
• Undertake first and second-fix carpentry, kitchen repairs and associated refurbishment works.
• Carry out additional trade-related tasks where competent, including basic plumbing, patch plastering, tiling and decorating.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs efficiently, aiming to achieve a high first-time fix rate.
• Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.
• Maintain a clean, safe working environment and minimise disruption to residents, staff and school users.
• Communicate professionally with residents, site contacts and colleagues.
• Accurately record completed works and update job management systems as required.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Carpenter Multi-Trade Operative or Carpenter within property maintenance.
• Strong carpentry and joinery skills, with the ability to undertake a range of supporting multi-trade repairs.
• Experience working within social housing, schools, commercial buildings or similar maintenance environments is desirable.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently, manage workloads and meet deadlines.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Relevant carpentry qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2 or equivalent, are desirable.
• Full UK driving licence.
