18 Recruitment Limited is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Joiner for a permanent position within the social housing repairs and maintenance team in the Newcastle area. The role involves delivering high-quality workmanship across occupied and void properties, with duties spanning doors, ironmongery, kitchens, flooring and more.

The ideal candidate will have proven carpentry experience (first and second fix), own basic tools, a clean UK driving licence and a DBS check.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Carpenter/Joiner within repairs & maintenance.
• Experience in social housing is highly desirable.
• Skilled in first-fix and second-fix carpentry.
• Must possess own basic trade tools.
• Full clean UK driving licence.
• DBS check required.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance in social housing properties.
• Hang, ease, and adjust internal and external doors.
• Repair and replace locks, hinges, handles and other ironmongery.
• Install and repair kitchens, worktops, cabinets and units.
• Fit skirting boards, architraves, door frames and finishing carpentry.
• Undertake flooring repairs and installations (laminate and timber).
• Repair and replace fencing, gates and external timber structures.
• Carry out UPVC door and window repairs as required.
• Complete minor multi-trade works and make-good repairs.
• Ensure work is completed to high standards within timescales.
• Deliver excellent customer service in tenants' homes.
• Accurately complete job records and documentation.

Are you an experienced Carpenter / Joiner looking for a secure, long-term opportunity within the social housing sector? We are recruiting for a skilled tradesperson to join a busy repairs and maintenance team delivering high-quality work across occupied and void social housing properties.

This is a permanent role offering a company van, fuel card, and the opportunity to work for a well-established organisation with a consistent workload.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance works within social housing properties
• Hang, ease, and adjust internal and external doors
• Repair and replace locks, hinges, handles, and other ironmongery
• Install and repair kitchens, worktops, cabinets, and units
• Fit skirting boards, architraves, door frames, and other finishing carpentry
• Undertake flooring repairs and installations, including laminate and timber flooring
• Repair and replace fencing, gates, and external timber structures
• Carry out UPVC door and window repairs where required
• Complete minor multi-trade works and make‑good repairs following maintenance activities
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Carpenter / Joiner within repairs and maintenance
• Experience working within social housing is highly desirable
• Skilled in both first-fix and second-fix carpentry
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Must possess own basic trade tools
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Clean DBS check
