Job summary

18 Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Carpenter/Joiner for a permanent role in social housing repairs across occupied and void properties. You will join a busy repairs and maintenance team delivering high-quality workmanship with a company van and fuel card.

The role requires both first-fix and second-fix carpentry, the ability to work independently, and a clean UK driving licence. DBS check and strong customer service skills are essential for reliable housing maintenance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Carpenter/Joiner within repairs and maintenance.
• Experience working within social housing is highly desirable.
• Skilled in both first-fix and second-fix carpentry.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
• Must possess own basic trade tools.
• Full clean UK driving licence.
• Clean DBS check.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance works within social housing properties.
• Hang, ease, and adjust internal and external doors.
• Repair and replace locks, hinges, handles, and other ironmongery.
• Install and repair kitchens, worktops, cabinets, and units.
• Fit skirting boards, architraves, door frames, and other finishing carpentry.
• Undertake flooring repairs and installations, including laminate and timber flooring.
• Repair and replace fencing, gates, and external timber structures.
• Carry out UPVC door and window repairs where required.
• Complete minor multi-trade works and make‑good repairs following maintenance activities.
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
• Deliver excellent customer service when working in tenants' homes.
• Accurately complete job records and documentation.
