Job summary

18 Recruitment Limited is seeking a skilled Carpenter/Joiner to join a busy repairs team working across social housing properties in Greater London. This permanent role includes a company van, fuel card, and holiday entitlement, with duties spanning door fitting, kitchen and flooring works, and multi-trade make-good tasks.

You will carry out responsive and planned maintenance, ensuring high workmanship standards and excellent customer service to tenants.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as Carpenter/Joiner in repairs and maintenance.
• Social housing experience is highly desirable.
• Skilled in first-fix and second-fix carpentry.
• Own basic trade tools and a full clean UK driving licence.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance in social housing properties.
• Hang, ease, and adjust internal and external doors.
• Repair and replace locks, hinges, handles and ironmongery.
• Install and repair kitchens, worktops, cabinets, and units.
• Fit skirting boards, architraves and door frames.
• Undertake flooring repairs and installations (laminate/timber).
• Repair and replace fencing, gates, and external timber structures.
• Carry out UPVC door/window repairs as required.
• Complete minor multi-trade works and make good after maintenance.
• Ensure quality and timeliness of works.
• Deliver excellent customer service in tenants' homes.
• Accurately complete job records and documentation.

Are you an experienced Carpenter / Joiner looking for a secure, long-term opportunity within the social housing sector? We are recruiting for a skilled tradesperson to join a busy repairs and maintenance team delivering high-quality work across occupied and void social housing properties.

This is a permanent role offering a company van, fuel card, and the opportunity to work for a well-established organisation with a consistent workload.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance works within social housing properties
• Hang, ease, and adjust internal and external doors
• Repair and replace locks, hinges, handles, and other ironmongery
• Install and repair kitchens, worktops, cabinets, and units
• Fit skirting boards, architraves, door frames, and other finishing carpentry
• Undertake flooring repairs and installations, including laminate and timber flooring
• Repair and replace fencing, gates, and external timber structures
• Carry out UPVC door and window repairs where required
• Complete minor multi-trade works and make‑good repairs following maintenance activities
• Ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales
• Deliver excellent customer service when working in tenants' homes
• Accurately complete job records and documentation

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Carpenter / Joiner within repairs and maintenance
• Experience working within social housing is highly desirable
• Skilled in both first-fix and second-fix carpentry
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
• Must possess own basic trade tools
• Full clean UK driving licence
• Clean DBS check
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Commitment to delivering high standards of workmanship
