Job summary

The Local Council is seeking a Joiner to carry out reactive maintenance on domestic properties in the South Shields area. The role involves tasks such as hanging doors, replacing architraves and installing skirting, alongside all associated 2nd fix work.

Hours are 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week). The contract is initially 6–8 weeks with potential extension, and certain safety courses (e.g., asbestos awareness, working at heights, manual handling, abrasive wheels) may be

Qualifications

• City and Guilds or NVQ in carpentry or joinery.
• CSCS card is ideal but not essential.
• Experience in social housing/council house maintenance.
• Asbestos Awareness (or willingness to undertake online course).
• Working at heights (or willingness to undertake online course).
• Manual Handling (or willingness to undertake online course).
• Abrasive Wheels (or willingness to undertake online course).

Job description

I am looking for a Joiner to work on behalf of a local council in the South Shields area. The successful candidate will carry out reactive maintenance on domestic properties across the South Shields and wider area. Work will include hanging doors, replacing architraves and installing skirting and all associated 2nd fix maintenance whilst liaising with tenants.

The Joiner will receive:

• 22 P/H Umbrella
• 6 - 8 week contract initially with the potential of an extension.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete:

• Reactive maintenance on domestic properties
• 8:00AM - 4:30PM, Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week
• 2nd fix maintenance to a high standard

• City and Guilds or NVQ in carpentry or joinery
