Job summary

St Andrew's Academy, a special school, seeks an Ancillary Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across two sites. The role involves assisting in class, personal care, resources preparation and supervision during meals and activities, while collaborating with teaching and support staff to meet individual needs.

The ideal candidate is caring, patient, and a team player with a willingness to learn; prior school experience is beneficial and safeguarding is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in a school or specialist setting is beneficial.
• Willingness to learn and work as part of a team.
• Able to follow safeguarding procedures and maintain a safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils during classroom activities, breaks, transitions and other aspects of the school day.
• Assist with personal care needs, ensuring dignity and respect.
• Help prepare and organise learning materials, equipment and classroom resources.
• Support staff in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming learning environment.
• Supervise pupils during lunchtime, playtimes and off-site activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour, communication and social interaction.
• Provide reassurance and support to pupils, helping them feel safe and included.
• Work closely with teachers, therapists and support staff to meet individual pupil needs.
• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures at all times.
