Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support both kitchen and housekeeping duties in our care homes across the UK. The role emphasizes kindness toward Residents, a core value of HC-One, and involves helping with meals, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, and following safety procedures to protect Residents’ wellbeing.

Ideal candidates have some kitchen experience and are willing to work towards an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation.

Qualifications

• Experience in kitchen and food preparation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a caring approach.
• Ability to follow recipes and maintain hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are properly stored.
• Showcasing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen clean after busy periods.
