Job summary

Corkey House, run by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to support the Cook in preparing nutritious meals for residents. The role is 28.5 hours per week across 8am–6pm shifts, with flexible rota arrangements to suit the home’s needs.

You will work as part of a caring team, handling food preparation, serving meals, kitchen cleaning, and basic hygiene tasks, contributing to the well‑being of older people in a Christian ethos environment.

Qualifications

• Commitment to working within the Christian ethos of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.
• Integrity, honesty, patience, and a caring approach towards residents.
• Understanding of the needs of older people in a residential setting.
• Ability to work as part of a team and follow senior staff direction.
• Respect residents' preferences and maintain an even temperament.
• Interpersonal skills suitable for working with residents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Cook/Assistant Cook with food preparation.
• Serve food and carry out meal-related duties.
• Take rubbish to bins and keep work areas clean and tidy.
• Clean kitchen areas, shelves, drawers, cooker, floors and appliances.
• Wash dishes and assist with snacks and vegetables preparation.
• Clean and tidy dining room and support residents as needed.
• Carry out any other reasonable duties to support residents' well‑being.
