Job summary

Berry Recruitment Group is seeking a reliable Caretaker/Cleaner for a school in the Bishop Auckland area. The role is initially a one-week assignment with potential to become longer-term for the right candidate, paying £13.50 per hour for 20 hours per week (4 hours daily), with weekly pay and an immediate start.

Duties include opening and securing premises, caretaking and site maintenance, basic compliance and health & safety checks, cleaning classrooms, toilets, corridors and communal areas,

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, facilities or site maintenance.
• Able to perform basic compliance and health & safety checks.
• Willing to undertake cleaning duties.
• Full UK driving licence and own transport due to site location.
• Enhanced DBS certificate required.
• Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and experienced Caretaker/Cleaner to provide cover at a school in the Bishop Auckland area. This is initially a one-week assignment, with the potential to become a longer-term opportunity for the right candidate.

Duties Include:

• Opening and securing the premises
• Carrying out general caretaking and site maintenance duties
• Completing basic compliance and health & safety checks
• Ensuring the site remains safe, secure, and well-maintained
• Cleaning classrooms, toilets, corridors, and communal areas
• Supporting with additional cleaning duties as required

Requirements:

• Previous caretaking, facilities, site maintenance, or similar experience
• Experience carrying out basic compliance and health & safety checks
• Willingness to undertake cleaning duties
• Full UK driving licence and own transport due to the location of the site
• Enhanced DBS certificate required
• Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work independently

Working Hours:

• Monday to Friday
• 4 hours per day
• Start time of either 6:00am or 7:00am
