Job Role: Caretaker

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Start: ASAP

Contract: Full-time, 7am - 3pm

Overview

Teaching Personnel is working with a partner secondary school in Corby, Northamptonshire, seeking to recruit a caretaker immediately. The successful candidate will assist the Site Supervisor in managing the school's site, including fabric, grounds, security, and maintenance tasks.

Responsibilities

1. Assist with all aspects of site management, including security, cleaning, monitoring contracts, planned maintenance (PPM), minor repairs, and refurbishments.
2. Provide advice on maintenance requirements to support cost-effective and risk-reducing maintenance programs.
3. Coordinate with the Site Supervisor and Facilities & Estates teams to obtain quotations and ensure high-quality, value-for-money services.
4. Conduct regular, proactive maintenance checks and initiate follow-up actions as needed.
5. Appoint and monitor contractors for reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring adherence to procedures and standards.
6. Test building systems such as heating, cooling, lighting, and security regularly.
7. Ensure the security of school buildings at all times and act as a designated key holder for out-of-hours access.
8. Perform scheduled health and safety checks, including fire safety and Legionella regulations, and maintain premises records.

Requirements

Applicants must hold a valid Child Workforce Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service. All applicants should have the necessary qualifications and training for this role. Please refer to the Teaching Personnel website FAQs for details.

Pay rates include statutory holiday pay of 12.07%. This position is temporary, with potential for permanency in the future.
