Job Role: Caretaker

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Contract: Full-time, 7am - 3pm

Job Description

Teaching Personnel is working with a partner secondary school in Corby, Northamptonshire, to recruit a Caretaker. The successful candidate will be responsible, along with the Site Supervisor, for all aspects of Site Management, including:

• Security
• Cleaning
• Monitoring Contracts and Contractors
• Planned Maintenance (PPM) and minor repairs

Responsibilities

1. Advise on maintenance requirements to support cost-effective and risk-reducing programs.
2. Coordinate with the Site Supervisor and Facilities teams to obtain quotations and ensure high-quality, value-for-money services.
3. Conduct regular maintenance checks and follow-up actions.
4. Appoint and monitor contractors for reactive and planned maintenance, ensuring adherence to procedures.
5. Test building systems such as Heating, Cooling, Lighting, and Security regularly.
6. Ensure the security of the school buildings at all times.
7. Act as a key holder for out-of-hours access, on a rota or as needed.
8. Perform scheduled health and safety inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining records.

Requirements

Applicants must have a valid Child Workforce Enhanced DBS Certificate on the Update Service. All applicants should have the necessary qualifications and training for this role. Please refer to the Teaching Personnel FAQ for details.

Additional Information

Pay rates include statutory holiday pay of 12.07%. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence later.
