CrossReach in Elderslie, Scotland, is seeking a Care Worker to support older adults with dementia in a compassionate, person-centred way. You will help with daily tasks, encourage independence, and work as part of a close-knit team in a welcoming care home environment.
There is a focus on dignity, individual needs, and continuing development, including SVQ progression support and PVG/SSSC requirements. Applicants must be able to work in the UK and uphold CrossReach’s Christian ethos.
Adams House provides specialist residential care for up to 30 older people living with dementia. Situated in Elderslie, at the foot of the Gleniffer Braes, the home offers a bright, comfortable and welcoming environment, with landscaped gardens and inviting communal spaces.
Care and support are shaped around each resident's individual needs, preferences and life experiences, with a focus on promoting independence, preserving dignity and helping people maintain their sense of identity.
As a Care Worker with CrossReach, you'll help people with their everyday needs while encouraging them to stay active, involved and as independent as possible. You'll provide practical and personal support, get to know the people you care for and understand what matters to them.
It's a varied, hands-on role where you'll work closely with colleagues to provide care that reflects each person's needs, preferences and choices.
You'll enjoy working with people, communicate clearly and bring patience, kindness and a thoughtful approach to supporting others. You'll take time to listen and adapt your approach to different needs and preferences.
You don't need previous experience in care to apply. We're interested in people who are dependable, willing to learn and ready to take responsibility for providing good-quality care. If you don't already hold an SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care, you'll be supported to work towards achieving it as part of your development with CrossReach.
You'll need to be comfortable providing personal care, working as part of a team and responding to people's individual needs. You'll also need to meet the relevant PVG and SSSC registration requirements.
At CrossReach, we believe quality care begins with understanding each person and recognising what matters to them. You'll be part of an organisation committed to providing compassionate, individualised care that supports people to live as independently as possible.
We also offer you a range of benefits that you would expect from an organisation that support others.
But we also know that your training and development is important to you, and as well as a contribution to your professional membership fees, we are keen to support you in making the right steps to learn, grow and develop in ways that are right for you.
CrossReach has been at the forefront of high quality social care for over 150 years, providing loving care to people of all ages and supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. During that time, we have worked hard to understand the needs of the people who turn to us for help and with them have been at the forefront of pioneering services which have literally changed thousands of lives for the better.
Today we are one of the largest social care providers in Scotland, with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning, and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us. We are part of the Church of Scotland and aim to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances.
As we do our work in Christ’s name the job you have applied for requires you to have a Christian faith and be able to work within and uphold our Christian Ethos. This is an Occupational Requirement under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.
This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks. You will also be required to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.
We have a legal obligation to ensure that we do not employ any worker who has not been granted the relevant permission to work in the UK.
