Job summary

Hallmark Luxury Care Homes in Cardiff is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to ensure a safe, comfortable living environment for residents. The role combines hands-on maintenance with compliance oversight, reporting to the Maintenance Operative, and coordinating with contractors as needed.

You will help carry out day-to-day repairs, maintain the home and grounds, and contribute to a care setting that values safety, empathy and high standards of upkeep.

Qualifications

• Experience in facilities or compliance in public or sensitive environments.
• Hands-on maintenance tasks such as isolating water, changing a tap or switching off power for repairs.
• Able to assess building condition and plan upkeep and safety measures.
• Ability to coordinate external contractors and ensure quality standards.
• Knowledge of monitoring water systems and room temperatures in commercial or care settings.
• Demonstrates empathy, adaptability and respectful conduct around vulnerable residents.
• Proactive and independent with strong workload management.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all minor repairs and audit requirements are addressed to maintain a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.
• Run regular tests on systems within the home to uphold regulatory standards.
• Assist the gardener in maintaining the grounds and gardens through the seasons.
