Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  1. To be responsible for the day-to-day care of residents, delegating roles to nursing and care staff as appropriate.
  2. To provide clinical supervision to the Registered Nurses. Through supervision, ensure that the Registered Nurse team obtain and sustain the clinical competencies necessary to meet the needs of residents.
  3. To act as a Shift Team Leader and to provide overall supervision and development for care staff.
  4. To contribute to the training of care staff and other staff, acting as a role model at all times.
  5. To actively participate in personal and professional development opportunities.
  6. Monitor, audit, and review the service, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary.
  7. Demonstrate high professional standards and leadership, maintaining any appropriate professional memberships.
  8. Assisting the Home Manager with formal supervision / appraisal of Staff Members in line with company policy, and with ongoing informal assessment of the work of Staff Members, to ensure consistently high standards.
  9. Implement and adhere to Gold Care's policies and procedures, legal requirements, and relevant codes of practice.
  10. To assist with effective recruitment, performance management, and deployment of staff to deliver high-quality care and support outcomes for people who use our services.
  11. Liaise with and oversee as required, maintenance contractors and others involved in the maintenance of property, plant, and equipment.
  12. Promote the service and Gold Care through effective communication with other organizations, stakeholders such as people who use services, staff, relatives, medical and social care professionals, the regulator staff, and the local community.
  13. Promote the home professionally and effectively in the community, maintain private bed occupancy, and support corporate marketing.
  14. Ensure that all staff have a focus on excellent customer care to enhance the lives of people who use our services and Gold Care's reputation.
  15. Any other duties consistent with the business of Gold Care Homes.

Person Specification

  1. Knowledge and Experience.
  2. Excellent understanding of the regulatory responsibilities of a Deputy Manager.
  3. Excellent understanding of the principles of high-quality, person-centered care and support.
  4. Ability to negotiate and manage a budget.
  5. Knowledge and use of clinical assessment tools.
  6. Understand care planning processes and have experience of writing care plans.
  7. Experience of leading a shift.
  8. Experience of working in the care home environment.
  9. Experience of working with individuals with dementia.
