Job summary

Hill Care Group is seeking a Chef / Cook to organise and control the efficient production of quality meals within budget and to maintain high hygiene standards in line with regulations. You will lead kitchen staff, plan menus with the Home Manager, and ensure food safety and client dietary requirements are met.

The role involves supervising kitchen operations, training staff, and maintaining equipment and records.

Qualifications

• City & Guilds 706 - 1 & 2 or equivalent qualification.
• Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate.
• Team player who can work on own initiative.
• Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable).
• Previous supervisory experience in a care kitchen.
• Experience of Food Preparation for the relevant Client group.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals, as required.
• Provide for special dietary requirements and client preferences.
• Liaise with Home Manager on planning and costing menus.
• Arrange/participate in Staff and Client meetings.
• Maintain records of food supplies and temperatures.
• Ensure stock rotation and manage deliveries.
• Prepare Staff rota for Kitchen.
• Interview for new staff with Home Manager.
• Supervise kitchen staff and train on hygiene procedures.
• Conduct basic food hygiene training for care staff.
• Attend mandatory training days/courses.
• Ensure health and safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.
• Report illnesses or accidents immediately.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
