Job summary

Hill Care Group is seeking a Kitchen Supervisor to organise and control the production of quality meals within budget while upholding high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO regulations.

You will manage staff rotas, supervise kitchen staff, ensure dietary needs are met, maintain stock, and train team members in hygiene and safety. A collaborative, proactive approach with good communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • City & Guilds 706 - 1 & 2 (achieved or working towards)
  • Basic Food / Hygiene Certificate
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Satisfactory Police Check and check against the POVA List (where applicable)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook and serve hot and cold meals, as required.
  • Provide for special dietary requirements and consider client preferences.
  • Liaise with Home Manager when planning / costing menus for balanced nutrition.
  • Arrange / participate in Staff and Client meetings as required.
  • Maintain records of food supplies and temperatures.
  • Ensure stock rotation; order stocks and check deliveries.
  • Prepare staff rota for Kitchen.
  • Interview for new staff with Home Manager per Recruitment policy.
  • Supervise and instruct Kitchen Staff on equipment and hygiene procedures.
  • Conduct basic food hygiene training for care staff handling and delivering food.
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
  • Attend mandatory training days/courses on or off site.
  • Ensure statutory Health and Safety standards in kitchen and dining areas.
  • Ensure crockery/equipment are cleaned, stored, and kitchen areas cleaned.
  • Report illnesses or accidents to Home Manager immediately.
  • Understand and implement Care Centre Health and Safety policy and emergency procedures.
  • Report faulty appliances or hazards to Home Manager or Handyperson.
  • Promote safe working practices in the Care Centre.
  • Promote a positive profile within the local community; respect confidentiality.
  • Notify absence to Home Manager and return to duty promptly.
  • Ensure security of the Care Centre and adherence to company policies.
  • Ensure equipment is clean and well maintained; carry out other reasonable tasks.
