Job summary

Orkney Islands Council is recruiting a Cook at Kirkjuvagr House, Kirkwall, on a 22.2-hour, permanent contract. You will undertake cook duties for a residential establishment providing continuous care to the frail, elderly and those with dementia, preparing a variety of nutritious meals to high standards.

The role reports to the Registered Manager and involves shift work on a rota basis, with flexible working discussed.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for residents in care settings.
• Knowledge of high hygiene standards.
• Willingness to work shifts including unsocial hours.
• PVG disclosure Level 2 required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious meals for residents to a high standard.
• Assist with menu planning and food hygiene.
• Work on a rota across seven days.
• Support dementia care dining needs.
