Job summary

EQ Care is seeking a Care Assistant (Care Companion) for night shifts at Cedar Lodge Care Home in Whitchurch on Thames, Reading. The role focuses on companionship, personal care and supporting residents with meals and daily routines, building relationships to ensure a warm, respectful home environment.

The position is 8pm–8am, 44 hours per week, permanent with alternate weekends. Salary ranges £29,080–£33,839 per annum pro rata, depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience within a similar environment desirable.
• Flexible, patient with a caring attitude, a real 'people person'.
• Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and internal applications; ability to learn new systems quickly.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being self-motivated and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• To support people with intimate washing/drying, dressing and presentation.
• Maintain a professional and welcoming presence for residents and visitors.
• Attend and contribute to team meetings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Home Manager to support the home.

Responsibilities and Duties

• To support people with intimate washing/drying, how they wish to be dressed and presented, including shaving, hair style, nails, teeth.
• Represent the Cedar Lodge brand by maintaining a professional and welcoming presence for all team members, residents, and visitors.
• Attend and actively contribute to team meetings.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Home Manager to support the overall functioning of the home.
