Job summary

Douglas Court Care Home in Derby is seeking a Care Assistant to deliver high-quality, person-centred care and support residents with daily living tasks while upholding dignity and independence.

You will work as part of a supportive team, assist with meals, mobility, and wellbeing, and follow care plans closely. A full-time role with day shifts and alternate weekends, offering training and progression within a friendly care environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in care is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care focusing on dignity, independence and wellbeing.
  • Support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and daily living.
  • Follow individual care plans and monitor wellbeing, reporting changes promptly.
  • Maintain accurate care records and keep environments clean, safe and welcoming.
  • Encourage participation in activities and assist with meals and outings.

Douglas Court Care Home is a modern residential, dementia and respite care home in Derby. With beautiful sensory gardens, comfortable living spaces and engaging daily activities, our team is dedicated to helping every resident feel safe, valued and at home.

Care Assistant Contract
  • £12.85 per hour
  • Contracted to 38.5 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As Care Assistant, you will make a meaningful difference in residents' lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

You will support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and daily living, while following individual care plans and responding sensitively to their physical, emotional and social needs. You will monitor residents' wellbeing, promptly report any changes in condition and maintain accurate care records to support safe, consistent care.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will encourage residents to participate in activities, assist with meals, accompany them on appointments and outings where required, and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment. You will follow Health & Safety, infection prevention and safeguarding procedures, ensuring residents remain at the heart of everything you do.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For
  • A caring, compassionate and respectful approach with a genuine passion for supporting older people.
  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.

  • A reliable, positive and professional attitude with a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  • Understanding of dignity, independence, equality and maintaining residents' confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, infection prevention and safe working practices.
  • Previous care or care home experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this qualification. The Care Certificate must be completed within the first three months if not already achieved.
