Job summary

City of Glasgow College is seeking a Care Assistant to provide supervision and support to students arriving and leaving the College, including breaks and lunchtimes. You will assist teaching staff with resources and help maintain a clean, safe teaching environment.

The role emphasizes developing independent living skills, promoting positive social attitudes, and supporting students in line with Personal Learning Plans. PVG disclosure is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role is essential.
• Experience working with individuals and groups with additional support needs is desirable.
• Ability to communicate within a diverse team.
• Experience with low arousal techniques and handling challenging behaviour is essential.

Responsibilities

Care Assistant

Salary: £31,027 – 32,542 per annum, pro rata (Salary commences at £31,027 pro rata)

You will provide supervision and support to students arriving and leaving College, during breaks and at lunchtime. You will assist lecturing staff with resources and resource preparation, maintain clean and healthy teaching environments and assist lecturing staff during excursions and outings.

In addition, you will encourage the development of independent living skills, promote acceptable social attitudes, communicate any issues and support students in accordance with their Personal Learning Plans/Guidance folders.

To apply for this position you should have experience of working in a similar role; a relevant qualification would also be desirable. The ideal candidate will have experience of working with both individuals and groups who have a range of additional support needs and have the ability to communicate within a diverse team. Experience in using low arousal techniques and handling challenging behaviour is also essential.
