Job summary

Kiwi House Care Home is a modern residential and dementia care provider in Derby, offering a caring, person-centred approach to residents. This role focuses on supporting daily living, mobility and nutrition while respecting dignity and independence.

You will follow individual care plans, monitor wellbeing, document changes and work within a supportive team to create a safe, welcoming environment. Weekend work is required on an alternating basis.

  • Ability to work calmly in a busy environment.
  • Willingness to train towards NVQ/ Care Certificate.

Job description

Kiwi House Care Home is a modern residential, dementia, respite and day care home in Alvaston, Derby. Overlooking Kiwi Park, with six beautifully designed care suites and excellent lifestyle facilities, we provide compassionate, person centred care that enables residents to live fulfilling lives.

Care Assistant Contract
  • £12.85 per hour
  • Contracted to 36 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension and uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

Role Overview

As Care Assistant, you will make a meaningful difference in residents' lives by delivering high-quality, person-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

You will support residents with personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration and daily living, while following individual care plans and responding sensitively to their physical, emotional and social needs. You will monitor residents' wellbeing, promptly report any changes in condition and maintain accurate care records to support safe, consistent care.

Working as part of a supportive team, you will encourage residents to participate in activities, assist with meals, accompany them on appointments and outings where required, and help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment. You will follow Health & Safety, infection prevention and safeguarding procedures, ensuring residents remain at the heart of everything you do.

The successful candidate will be required to work alternate weekends.

What We Are Looking For
  • A caring, compassionate and respectful approach with a genuine passion for supporting older people.
  • Good communication, literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work calmly in a busy environment and as part of a supportive team.
  • A reliable, positive and professional attitude with a commitment to delivering person-centred care.
  • Understanding of dignity, independence, equality and maintaining residents' confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, infection prevention and safe working practices.
  • Previous care or care home experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this qualification. The Care Certificate must be completed within the first three months if not already achieved.
