Job summary

The Anaesthetic Department at Glenfield Hospital, part of University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, is seeking a full-time consultant anaesthetist to provide safe elective and emergency services and to lead perioperative care in a growing department.

You will participate in high-risk clinics, supervise junior staff, and contribute to teaching, research, and governance within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• MB BS or equivalent required.
• FRCA or equivalent required.
• SIA or fellowship in cardiothoracic anaesthesia preferred.
• Fully trained in anaesthesia.
• Current ALS certification required.
• TOE exam required.
• Higher Specialist Training accreditation or CESR route under consideration.
• Full GMC registration or in process.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and efficient anaesthetic service for elective and emergency care, including preoperative assessment and perioperative care.
• Share day-to-day responsibility for patient management and maintain high clinical standards.
• Provide specialist high-risk anaesthesia outpatient clinic work.
• Take part in the Consultant Anaesthetist non-resident on-call rota.
• Support the perioperative medicine service.
• Supervise, train and manage junior medical staff with teaching responsibilities.

Fully trained in anaesthesia

Current ALS certification

TOE exam
