Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking a Directorate Support Manager for the Cardiac Services Directorate. You will oversee day-to-day admin services, ensure patient-centred processes and support safe clinical care.

You will lead a team of administrative staff, coordinating with consultants, matrons and operational managers to maintain high standards of communication, scheduling and service coordination.

Qualifications

• NVQ level III or equivalent NHS experience required.
• Degree or equivalent qualification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day administrative and secretarial services for Cardiology and Cardiothoracic specialties.
• Line-manage Medical Secretaries, MDT Coordinators and admin staff with recruitment and performance oversight.
• Oversee waiting lists, data accuracy and PAS usage; generate performance reports and support audits.
• Support service reviews, capacity planning, business cases and quality improvement initiatives.
• Monitor Datix incidents, ensure IG, health and safety and SOP compliance.
• Communicate with clinicians, managers and corporate teams; coordinate FOI requests and deputise at meetings.

Education

NVQ level III or equivalent experience in a similar NHS role
