Job summary

ISS Facilities Services in Birmingham is seeking a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor (CAPEX) to support the Commercial Manager across capital projects. You will manage cost planning, contract administration, financial governance and commercial assurance throughout the project lifecycle.

Working with Project Managers, suppliers and stakeholders, you will provide commercial insight, drive value for money, manage risk and support successful project delivery in a complex facilities management

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience in quantity surveying, cost management, estimating, valuations, forecasting, and commercial reporting across the project lifecycle.
• Ability to undertake quantity take‑offs, measure drawings, prepare cost estimates, and develop pricing models.
• Experience with NEC3/NEC4 contracts, compensation events, and change control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review project scopes of work with Project Managers and stakeholders.
• Undertake quantity take-offs and measurement of drawings to support estimating and cost planning.
• Prepare cost estimates, pricing models, and tender documentation per NEC standards.
• Evaluate tenders and provide commercial recommendations for supplier selection.
• Maintain project cost control, forecasting, valuations, reporting, and profitability.
• Administer compensation events and contractual correspondence through CEMAR or similar systems.
• Review supplier applications, invoices, variations, and final accounts for accuracy and compliance.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and cost-saving measures; ensure close-out obligations are completed.
