Job summary

The City of Liverpool College is seeking a vigilant Campus Support Officer to ensure the safety, security and wellbeing of students, staff and visitors across the Liverpool campus. This 39 weeks TTO post requires a proactive approach to safeguarding and emergency procedures while upholding college policies.

Reporting to the Facilities Supervisor, the role involves monitoring entry points, patrolling corridors, maintaining clear communications, and supporting event days and enrolment activities.

• Comfortable using IT systems for reporting and monitoring.

• Confident in handling incidents and using de-escalation techniques.

• Experience of working in a customer-oriented environment.
• Good inter-personal skills with the ability to answer enquiries and deal with all customers in a friendly and efficient manner.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring entry and exit points, checking ID badges, ensuring only authorised individuals enter the college.
• Regularly patrolling corridors during non-peak times to identify and address potential security issues.
• Maintaining clear communication with students, staff, and visitors, and reporting incidents to management or authorities.
• Building positive relationships with students to foster a safe and supportive environment.
• Promoting a positive and respectful college culture.
• Responding to incidents such as fire alarm activations, intruder alarm activations, first aid incidents or lockdown situations, coordinating with staff and emergency services.
• Ensuring adherence to college policies, including conflict resolution and reporting incidents.
• Enforcing college behaviour policies, including smoking, loitering, or anti-social conduct.
• Conducting searches of individuals following college procedures.
• Supervising student behaviour in communal areas during peak times.
• Acting as a keyholder for opening buildings and un-setting alarms.
• Support evacuation procedures and act as a Fire Marshal when required.
• Support cross-college activities such as enrolment and recruitment events.
• Follow departmental policies and operate within service standards.
• Adhere to GDPR, Equality and Financial Regulations.
• Perform other duties as required.
