Job summary

The City of Liverpool College is seeking a dedicated Cleaning Operative to maintain high standards of cleanliness across campus, including classrooms, offices and communal areas. This part-time, permanent role requires flexibility across sites and adherence to health and safety procedures.

You will support cleanliness schedules, handle cleaning materials, and work as part of the Estates team reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning experience, preferably in an educational, commercial or similar environment.
• Good attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Reliable, punctual and responsible approach to work.
• Ability to follow instructions, cleaning schedules and health and safety procedures.
• Good communication skills.
• Physically able to carry out cleaning duties, including standing, bending and moving cleaning equipment.
• Experience working in a school, college, university or other educational setting.
• Knowledge of COSHH and safe handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Knowledge of relevant workplace health and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Clean classrooms, lecture rooms, offices, corridors, stairways and communal areas to a high standard.
• Clean and sanitise toilets, washrooms and other high-use areas.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop and maintain a variety of floor surfaces.
• Empty waste bins and recycling bins and dispose of waste safely.
• Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, fitting, doors and other surfaces.
• Replenish cleaning materials and washroom supplies when required
• Report any damage, hazards, maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Follow college cleaning schedules, procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely and in accordance with instructions.
• Maintain confidentiality and behave professionally when working around students, staff and visitors.
• Support occasional deep-cleaning activities and college events where and when required.
• Carry out other reasonable cleaning duties as directed/instructed by the cleaning supervisor.
• Must have a degree of flexibility in line with the needs of the organisation.
