Job summary

Marchant Recruitment in Birmingham is seeking a reliable School Caretaker for a full-time, permanent role at a well-established secondary school. You will help keep the site safe, clean and well maintained, working with the site team and senior leaders to support daily school operations.

Duties include opening/closing the site, basic maintenance and repairs, health and safety checks, security monitoring, room setups for events, and coordinating with external contractors.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaker, site assistant, or maintenance experience (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance and health & safety.
• Practical, hands-on approach with good problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing the school site daily
• Carrying out general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
• Ensuring health and safety standards are met across the premises
• Monitoring site security, including alarms and access control
• Assisting with setting up rooms for events and activities
• Liaising with external contractors when required
