Job summary

The Lodge Forest Cafe in Aberfoyle is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Catering Manager in running the café. The role covers hygiene checks, staff training, daily kitchen and front-of-house operations, ordering, cash handling, stock, and budgets. It is a 37.5-hour week on a rota including weekends and bank holidays.

Experience supervising staff is essential, and you should be able to motivate the team, respond to colleagues and customers, and adapt to change in a growing organisation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supervising staff.
• Experience in kitchen and front-of-house operations.
• Familiarity with hygiene standards and stock control.

Responsibilities

• Supervise café operations, including the kitchen and front of house, alongside the Catering Manager
• Monitor hygiene standards
• Support staff training
• Place orders, handle cash, control stock and monitor food budgets
• Check and record deliveries and take any action needed
• Help control costs for consumables and staff labour
