Owen Daniels is recruiting a Buyer – Manufacturing for a Rugby-based, hybrid role. You will oversee direct materials and suppliers, driving cost, quality and lead-time improvements while collaborating with Engineering, Production and Quality teams.

The position offers hybrid working and a benefits package. The successful candidate will have purchasing experience in a manufacturing or engineering setting, with a focus on direct materials and supplier management.

Qualifications

• Previous purchasing or procurement experience within manufacturing/engineering environments.
• Experience buying engineering components or direct materials is preferred.
• Commercially minded with ability to negotiate and influence internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of suppliers for direct materials and manufactured components.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and supply agreements with new and existing suppliers.
• Run RFQs and support supplier selection and sourcing projects.
• Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Planning and Quality teams.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Support new product introductions and changes to existing products.
• Manage supply risks and develop alternative sources where required.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers.

A well-established manufacturing business based in Rugby is looking to recruit a Buyer to join its growing procurement function.

The business designs and manufactures specialist products for a niche, highly profitable industry, supplying customers across the UK and international markets. With a strong order book and continued investment in its operations, this is a good opportunity to join a stable manufacturer where procurement has a genuine influence on business performance.

Working as part of the purchasing team, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of direct materials and suppliers, supporting production while identifying opportunities around cost, quality, lead times and supplier performance.

The role will involve:

• Managing a portfolio of suppliers across a range of direct materials and manufactured components.
• Negotiating pricing, commercial terms and supply agreements with new and existing suppliers.
• Running RFQs and supporting supplier selection and sourcing projects.

What we're looking for:
