Job summary

Owen Daniels in Rugby is seeking a Buyer to join its manufacturing procurement team on a hybrid basis. The role focuses on direct materials, supplier management and cost‑saving opportunities to support production and new product introduction.

The successful candidate will have experience in manufacturing procurement, particularly with engineering components, and will be commercially minded with strong negotiation and stakeholder collaboration skills.

• Experience purchasing engineering components.
• Strong commercial mindset and supplier negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing a portfolio of suppliers across direct materials and manufactured components.
• Negotiating pricing, commercial terms and supply agreements with new and existing suppliers.
• Running RFQs and supporting supplier selection and sourcing projects.
• Monitoring supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery.
• Working closely with Engineering, Production, Planning and Quality teams.
• Identifying cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities.
• Supporting new product introduction and changes to existing products.
• Managing supply risks and developing alternative sources where required.
• Building strong, long-term relationships with key suppliers.

A well-established manufacturing business based in Rugby is looking to recruit a Buyer to join its growing procurement function. The business designs and manufactures specialist products for a niche, highly profitable industry, supplying customers across the UK and international markets. With a strong order book and continued investment in its operations, this is a good opportunity to join a stable manufacturer where procurement has a genuine influence on business performance. Working as part of the purchasing team, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of direct materials and suppliers, supporting production while identifying opportunities around cost, quality, lead times and supplier performance.

The role will involve:
