Job summary

Booker is seeking an experienced butcher to run the Butchery Department like its own business. You will engage with customers to develop their local meat offerings and provide excellent service while managing inventory and standards.

The role emphasizes product knowledge across all meat proteins, self-motivation, and a drive to succeed in a retail environment. You will work with the Store Manager on business growth strategies and customer-focused initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in meat retail or butchery operations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of meat proteins and cuts.
• Ability to manage stock, hygiene, and customer service standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards in stock, food safety procedures, and displays.
• Collaborate with Store Manager to grow sales and profitability of the department.
• Greet customers, provide advice, take orders, and assist with selections.
• Order and manage stock, including stocktaking.
• Lead a small team, assign duties and rosters.
• Cut meat to order.
• Clean and maintain tools and equipment.
• Coordinate deliveries or order pickups.
• Control waste and shrinkage.
