Job summary

Holdsworth Foods in Halifax is seeking a Butcher to join our Butchery team at our Halifax depot. You will work with a highly skilled team to produce excellent cuts of meat for our customers.

The working hours are 6.30am to 3.pm, Monday to Friday and 5 hours on alternate Saturdays. We offer staff discounts, a death-in-service benefit, a healthcare cash plan, an employee assistance program, a company pension, and ongoing development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Butcher or in a similar role preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
• Strong knife skills and ability to handle sharp objects safely.
• Understanding of different cuts of meat and their uses.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cut meat products according to customer specifications.
• Trim excess fat, gristle, and other undesirable parts from meat.
• Portion meat into appropriate sizes for packaging.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work area and equipment.
• Follow proper food handling and safety procedures.
• Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and ordering supplies as needed.
