Job description

Join us to apply for the Business Support Administrator role at Birmingham Children's Trust (England).

Birmingham Children’s Trust is going from strength to strength. We are the largest provider of family support and social care services for children, young people, and families in the country. Our goal is to become a centre of excellence in both social care and family support. By choosing to work with us, you will be part of a supportive, dynamic team contributing to our service improvement journey to ‘Outstanding’.

We are proud to be an Equal Opportunities Employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees — a place where we can all be ourselves and succeed on merit.

We actively deliver services that are culturally responsive to the needs of the children, parents, and carers we work with, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusivity in all we do.

We have an exciting full-time opportunity within RAA (Adoption) — part of our Business Support Service — for a self-motivated Business Support Administrator to provide essential support to our practice staff members.

You will play an important role in the effective day-to-day running of the service. We are looking for individuals who are well-organized, have good attention to detail, and can work to and meet tight deadlines. You must be able to work effectively within a team environment, be customer and child-focused, and deliver the role with a flexible approach.

The role will be based at Lifford House, but you will also be required to attend One Avenue, Aston, for meetings and cover as needed. We operate a hybrid model of remote working.

About You…

You will be a ‘can-do’ person, passionate about high-quality service delivery and performance. You will work effectively within a dedicated team, be customer-focused, and flexible in your approach.

Key skills to highlight in your personal statement include:

  • Minute taking (desirable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programmes: Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Strong soft skills: active listening, working with key stakeholders of all levels
  • The ability to interpret and analyze information independently to solve varied problems
  • The ability to manage processes, ensuring accurate and timely outputs
  • Able to resolve internal/external issues with a solution-focused approach

Please note that we reserve the right to close the job early if we reach the required number of applications. We encourage early submission of your application and supporting statement to avoid disappointment.

Why Join Us?

  • Impactful Work — be part of a team that makes a real difference in the lives of the city’s most vulnerable children.
  • Supportive Environment — enjoy a collaborative work culture where your contributions are valued.
  • Career Development — benefit from tailored development programs, supervision, and learning opportunities to advance your skills and career.

Our Values

We approach our work with care and compassion, actively listening to the needs of children and young people. We involve them in decisions affecting their lives, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.

We use our resources wisely, ensuring every penny is spent where it counts. We foster collaboration with schools, health professionals, and the police to create a supportive network for our young people.

Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Depending on the role, you may be asked to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The level of check (Standard, Enhanced, or Enhanced with Barred List) depends on the specific responsibilities and contact level with children and young people.

We treat all applicants fairly, including those with criminal records. Having a criminal record does not necessarily disqualify you; it depends on the nature of the role and the background of the offence.

We reserve the right to close the job early if we reach the required number of applications. Please submit your application and supporting statement early to avoid missing out.
