Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a focused and flexible Business Officer to join the Business Operations Team in the Place & Sustainability Directorate. You will provide professional administration across Transport & Connectivity, Infrastructure & Project Delivery and Environment, Planning & Economy.

Based at New Shire Hall with a flexible working pattern across Cambridgeshire, you will manage calendars, organise meetings, and produce minutes while delivering high‑quality

Qualifications

  • GCSEs in English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
  • Experience with Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage calendars and book meetings.
  • Experience taking and distributing minutes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide business support to colleagues across Directorate areas.
  • Manage workloads and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.

About the role

You will be working in a busy environment, providing business support to various colleagues across the Place & Sustainability Directorate. Covering areas such as Transport & Connectivity, Infrastructure & Project Delivery and Environment, Planning & Economy.

We are looking for a focused and flexible Business Officer to work within the Business Operations Team within the Place & Sustainability Directorate.

This role will be based at New Shire Hall, Alconbury Weald but have a flexible structure to cope with varying workload pressures and the post holder will be required to regularly work from a number of bases across Cambridgeshire.

We are looking for a candidate who will be able to work under pressure to tight deadlines with an ability to prioritise, organise and manage their own workload and have excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to represent the service in a positive and professional manner.

About you

You will be an organised, proactive and enthusiastic individual who is keen to learn and develop, an excellent communicator, both spoken and written.

Along with GCSEs in English and Maths at Grade A-C or equivalent, you will be experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook packages and have the ability to work with set processes/procedures. You will have previous experience in calendar management, setting up meetings and taking minutes.

We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who works effectively with colleagues as part of a team and demonstrates a positive, "can-do" attitude. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, develop their skills, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.

The role requires someone who can work flexibly and independently under minimal supervision, while also collaborating effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. You will be able to manage your workload, adapt to changing priorities, and take responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
