The role

As the Business Development Manager, you will manage and drive new business opportunities and expand existing accounts within your designated sales territory, leveraging your scientific and/or publishing/marketing background while cultivating relationships at all levels within accounts.

This full-time hybrid role involves some attendance at our Bath office. You will report to the account development sales manager.

Snapshot of the role:

  • Articulate the value of SelectScience to decision makers and provide a consultative approach, navigating the sales cycle and matching solutions to client needs.
  • Utilize strategies including face-to-face (international), virtual meetings, telesales, digital tools, and exhibitions to prospect, qualify, and win new opportunities while growing accounts.
  • Build high-level relationships within accounts to enhance engagement and promote long-term partnerships, coordinating with other departments such as Client Services and Editorial.
  • Be accountable for sales targets, providing regular forecasts, market feedback, and ideas to the wider team.

  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience in a consultative, commercial environment, preferably in science, scientific publishing, marketing, events, or professional services.
  • Knowledge of the scientific industry or experience in technical or marketing industries.
  • Proven success in new business development and account growth.
  • Track record of exceeding sales targets (over £500k/year).
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience managing international travel efficiently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM systems, and digital tools like Salesforce, Monday.com, HubSpot, LinkedIn Navigator, AI tools.
  • Understanding of digital publishing and content marketing sales.
