The role

As the Business Development Manager, you will manage and drive new business opportunities and expand existing accounts within your territory, leveraging your scientific background and cultivating relationships at all levels.

This is a full-time hybrid role (minimum 2 days in the office). You will report to the VP of Global Accounts, who reports to the CEO.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Articulating the value of SelectScience to decision makers and navigating the sales cycle.
  2. Using diverse strategies such as face-to-face, virtual meetings, telesales, and exhibitions, with scientific insight to prospect, qualify, and win new business.
  3. Maintaining a healthy pipeline and accurate forecasts to drive growth.
  4. Closing new deals and managing existing accounts to foster long-term relationships.
  5. Collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful delivery.
  6. Providing consultative, science-based proposals to create opportunities.
  7. Achieving sales targets and providing regular updates.
  8. Keeping records in SalesForce and managing sponsor interactions.
  9. Identifying upselling opportunities and sharing feedback internally.

Essential:

  • 4+ years of B2B sales experience in a consultative environment within the science or related industries.
  • Knowledge of the scientific industry.
  • Proven track record of meeting targets and developing accounts.
  • Good time management and travel logistics skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience in relationship sales and solution selling.
  • People management skills.
  • Experience with SalesForce and digital publishing.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • A scientific degree or equivalent professional experience.
