Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Manager to join our sales team.

We can change the world for good, one charge at a time.

We are an electric vehicle charging company on a mission to change the world for good. We want to make charging inclusive, convenient, and reliable, just a small part of our journey to become the UK's favourite charging network.

We deliver on-street community EV charging, working with local authorities to support residents unable to charge their vehicles at home. We also install future-proof EV charging infrastructure at workplaces, retail destinations, car parks, commercial real estate, and for residential developers.

We’re working to better connect people to places, councils to communities, and businesses to a brighter future

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for securing business and establishing long-standing relationships with organisations in the Public Sector that require the provision of EV public charging infrastructure, software offering, and resident consultations.

Your primary responsibilities will include developing and executing sales strategies, identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, cultivating strong customer relationships, and meeting sales targets.

By leveraging your expertise, you will play a pivotal role in promoting the adoption of on-street Electric Vehicle Charging Points across the nation.

In this role, you'll also act as the vital link between the company's sales goals and the intricate work of the bid team. Your contributions will ensure that proposals are not only meticulously prepared but also strategically aligned with the company’s overarching objectives

About You
  • You will be resilient and commercially focused.
  • You will have proven hands-on business development experience, particularly in managing long-term and complex contracts.
  • You will be able to establish meaningful relationships, present effective solutions, and utilise government funding to close deals successfully.
  • You will act as a champion for our brand and products, effectively communicating to potential new clients what makes our offerings unique and exceptional.
  • You will be passionate about environmental and sustainability matters.

If you meet the role requirements, thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment, and are looking for an opportunity to shape the future of EV infrastructure projects, we’d love to hear from you!

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Win Development and Sales Execution

  • Craft powerful win strategies that distinctly highlight our unique selling points while addressing the specific needs of each client.
  • Actively seek out and pursue lucrative business opportunities with both existing customers and new partnerships, driving our growth forward.
  • Conduct insightful market research to uncover trends, opportunities, and challenges within the EV charging sector, positioning us ahead of the competition.
  • Represent our company with confidence at public meetings, forums, and consultations, enhancing our reputation and visibility in the business development landscape.

Integrated Collaboration

  • Collaborate with the legal team to draft and solidify contracts and agreements that safeguard our interests and promote successful partnerships.
  • Work closely with the bid team to provide guidance and support throughout the entire bidding process, contributing strategic insights and ensuring compliance with all requirements.
  • Drive strategic focus on the "go/no-go" decision-making process, identifying winning themes and ensuring the bid team is equipped with all vital information for success.
  • Recognise the importance of fostering strong relationships and a shared purpose within the Commercial team.

Proactive Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both current and prospective customers to foster lasting trust and collaboration.
  • Ensure effective communication and cooperation with key stakeholders, including internal teams such as delivery, operations, legal, and finance, to maximise efficiency at every stage of the sales process and promote a unified approach to business growth.
  • Understand the needs and expectations of stakeholders to create more accurate sales forecasts.
  • Identify potential conflicts early on and address them proactively to prevent issues from escalating.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in sales, marketing, or related business roles
  • Proficiency in using sales software and CRM tools
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
  • Proficiency in MS Office with solid knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong sales acumen, strategic planning, and business development skills, preferably in the EV charging industry or related fields.
  • Knowledge of contracting structures and bid tendering processes.
  • Understanding of capital and O&M costs linked to the installation of the product offering.
  • Good understanding of Route-to-Market options.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Working knowledge of the UK electricity sector and regulations is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Familiarity with investment principles and project financing.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders across a range of disciplines.
  • Ability to travel within the region as required.
Here’s what our offer includes:
  • A hybrid and flexible work environment.
  • Private health insurance
  • Life assurance
  • Pension salary sacrifice scheme
  • Flexible working hours and a hybrid working model
  • Bank holidays + 28 days of annual leave (prorated for part-time workers) + your birthday off!
