Key responsibilities as the Business Development Manager would be:
- Maintain engagement with customers to identify service improvements.
- Identify and qualify new leads through networking and market insights.
- Attend customer meetings 1-2 times per week.
- Support with the preparation of proposals, tenders and customer presentations.
- Support customer onboarding and align operational requirements.
- Attend 2-3 industry and trade events per year, ensuring leads are captured and followed up.
- Gather operational and financial data to support business cases and forecasting.
- Contribute to sales pipeline updates and support negotiations.
- Support rate and tariff updates.
- Maintain accurate KPI tracking for customer accounts within the CRM.
- Gather and share market intelligence on competitors and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant quality, safety, security and sustainability standards.
- Support commercial project delivery by coordinating tasks and monitoring progress.
- Support strategic initiatives led by the Head of Business Development.
Experience and skills required:
- Experience of account management or business development across Logistics or Supply Chain
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Understanding of basic financial principles.
- Passion for growth, innovation and developing new solutions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data.
- Skilled in negotiation and constructive conflict management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent planning, organisation and attention to detail.
- Role model for integrity, respect and positive team culture.
- A full UK driving licence.
