Job Title: Business Development Manager

Region: National (UK&I Remit) - Home Based / National Operations Centre – Manchester / Head Office - Loughton

Salary: £60k

Reports To: Group Managing Director

Main Purpose

We're looking for a Business Development Manager to join our high performing and ambitious group-wide Business Development team, with specific responsibility for the security guarding division. You will support sales and marketing processes administratively.

To be considered, you should have a proven track record in the services sector, be results-driven, innovative, and have 3-5 years’ sales experience, preferably in the Security Industry. An understanding of customer service, frontline operations, and British Standards would be beneficial.

You will generate new leads, manage the full business development cycle, and develop relationships with new customers. You should demonstrate success and experience in achieving targets.

Sentinel Group Security seeks a Business Development Manager with a competitive spirit, personal drive, and a successful sales record. You will attend tender site visits, client meetings, submit tender documents, and deliver presentations.

You will play a key role in growing and retaining our business, delivering sales strategies, and reviewing bid submissions for quality and improvement.

Specification

You should understand what it takes to succeed in a busy sales environment, including:

  1. Establish sales objectives: Forecast and project sales volume and profit for existing and new services.
  2. Reporting and analytics: Prepare and interpret data to support pipeline development, providing KPI reports monthly.
  3. Managing the pipeline: From lead generation to close, maintaining strong customer relationships.
  4. Develop and implement a sales strategy: Align with the company’s business plan.
  5. Marketing intelligence: Develop marketing materials and opportunities, from client identification to tendering and negotiation.
  6. Tender site visits and client meetings: Prepare and deliver presentations and tender documents.
  7. Data analysis: Build reports, monitor performance, and provide feedback on market trends and opportunities.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Sales and Forecasting: Set objectives, project sales, and prepare KPI reports.
  • Pipeline Management: Manage opportunities from lead to close, analyze data, and provide insights.
  • Sales Strategy and Business Development: Develop strategies, identify clients, and support contract negotiations.
  • Client Engagement and Quoting: Attend site visits, develop cost models, and prepare tender documents.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Generate reports, analyze market data, and advise management.
  • Marketing and Brand Awareness: Collaborate on marketing materials and campaigns.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Foster effective relationships across teams and with clients.
Key Competencies
  • Full driving licence
  • Proven experience in tender writing and project management
  • Relevant professional experience in business development or similar
  • Relevant qualifications or skills (e.g., Marketing, English Literature, Facilities Management)
  • Experience with Facilities Management Contracts tenders
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage complex tenders
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Proactive, compliant, and with a can-do attitude
  • Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
