We produce a variety of bakery products, including sharing cakes, tray bakes, and party cakes, serving 75% of the UK market.

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will drive growth by managing key national foodservice accounts, building strong relationships, and achieving sales and profitability targets. The role requires identifying opportunities, implementing strategic plans, and ensuring customer satisfaction within the bakery category.

This fast-paced role demands proven experience in account management within the out-of-home or FMCG industry. Strong communication skills are essential for maintaining stakeholder relationships and delivering excellent customer service.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience with one of the UK's largest bakery businesses, working with a friendly team offering growth and career development opportunities.

What You’ll Do
  • Act as the primary contact for assigned accounts, achieving sales and profit targets.
  • Identify opportunities for product listing expansion and growth through NPD and range extensions.
  • Develop and execute tailored account plans, forecast sales, and coordinate with supply chain and production.
  • Collaborate with customers to develop insights and initiatives, monitor market trends, and identify emerging opportunities.
  • Liaise with internal teams for project delivery and product launches, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.
Ideal Candidate
  • Proven track record in account management within foodservice or FMCG industries.
  • Strong commercial, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and develop actionable strategies.
  • Results-driven, proactive problem solver.
  • Experience with NPD in bakery or similar categories is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel for meetings and events.
What We Offer
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave.
  • Enhanced pension scheme and death-in-service benefit.
  • Employee assistance program and retail discounts.
  • Company shop with heavily discounted products.
  • Refer a Friend scheme (up to £300 per referral).
  • Extensive learning and development opportunities.
  • The chance to be part of a growing organisation.
