Business Development Manager - Seafood (Somerset and North Devon)

About the Role

The Business Development Manager, working alongside in-house Account Managers, is responsible for delivering sustainable new and existing cash growth across the Somerset and North Devon region.

This role includes:

  1. Developing relationships, building long-term trust and rapport with customers, offering solutions and ideas to their business
  2. Using various resources to identify opportunities and strategic questioning techniques to find gaps within existing accounts
  3. Maintaining a pipeline document detailing all prospective business with up-to-date information
  4. Providing accurate and timely feedback to management and other business areas to ensure continued service and growth opportunities
  5. Monthly reporting on sales performance and future plans, with action plans as needed
  6. Ensuring good management practices and all processes are followed to maintain health and safety for employees and customers

About You

The Kingfisher Brixham team is made up of people with generations of experience in Brixham's thriving fishing industry. We are passionate about the seafood we supply and the service we provide.

Our staff, from knowledgeable fish buyers and sales teams to skilled fishmongers, technical experts, and delivery drivers, are masters of their trade, supporting us with a wealth of knowledge. This ensures our service is consistent, reliable, and professional, building trusting and long-lasting relationships.

You will have:

  • Passion for food, especially seafood. Hospitality industry knowledge is essential; seafood experience is a plus. Sales experience is not required.
  • Thorough knowledge of our marketplace and the food industry
  • A high level of professionalism, personable and approachable
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach with excellent customer service skills
  • An analytical approach to seek out and maximise growth opportunities
  • A current driving license and ability to work across the region, primarily in Somerset and North Devon, residing within a reasonable commuting distance
