About

Sustainable and innovative French creator and manufacturer of home fragrance is looking for a French-speaking Business Development Manager to increase their UK market share. You will manage national accounts and develop independents and smaller chains across the UK. As a Business Development Manager, you will organise your diary and visit existing and potential clients. The role is remote, but ideally based in the Midlands or near an airport. You will report to the Export management team.

Role of the Business Development Manager
  • Prospect and identify potential new customers using a newly created database
  • Develop a commercial roadmap to convert potential clients into active clients, targeting independent stores, franchises, small chains, and garden centres
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients
  • Work from home one day a week and visit clients four days a week
  • Manage and develop existing accounts
  • Provide product and service information, answer questions
  • Participate in sales staff training and ensure proper merchandising
  • Attend trade shows and follow up with potential clients
  • Prepare commercial offers and negotiate deals with management support
  • Conduct competitive intelligence
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal departments to ensure excellent service
  • Report weekly to headquarters
Profile
  • Strong communication skills in English and intermediate French
  • Experience in B2B field sales, ideally in FMCG sectors (e.g., Area Sales Manager, Territory Manager, Business Development Manager, Field Sales)
  • Willingness to travel nationwide
  • Proven relationship-building skills
  • Target-driven mindset
  • Familiarity with social media for prospecting and marketing
  • Ability to follow processes
  • Adaptable, team player, self-starter, curious, willing to learn, creative
  • Must have a passport and be willing to attend a 3-week training in France
Salary & Benefits
  • Basic salary between £38k-£40k + KPI-based bonus + discretionary annual bonus
