Overview
MCS Group is delighted to partner with a leading industrial manufacturer and distributor who is currently seeking a commercially driven Business Development Manager to oversee activity across Northern Ireland and the northern counties of the Republic of Ireland. This is a remote-based role, offering flexibility and autonomy for a motivated individual with a background in construction and/or engineering sales.
This opportunity is perfect for someone who thrives on building strong client relationships, has a deep understanding of the regional market, and enjoys developing strategic growth initiatives within a high-performance commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client Engagement: Develop and nurture strong relationships with new and existing clients across the construction and engineering sectors.
  • New Business: Identify and pursue sales opportunities through market intelligence, lead generation, and professional networking.
  • Territory Planning: Create and implement structured business development plans for key accounts, aligning with company growth objectives.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain a dynamic sales pipeline and provide regular updates on sales performance, helping ensure alignment with operations and production.
  • Market Insight: Monitor market activity and competitor behaviour to inform strategy and identify growth areas.
  • CRM & Reporting: Accurately update CRM and ERP systems with all customer engagement data, quotes, and orders, and deliver timely performance reports to leadership.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams to ensure service delivery aligns with customer expectations and business objectives.


Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Business Development or Sales Manager role within the construction and/or engineering sectors.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets through strategic planning and relationship-building.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied and active pipeline.
  • Confidence working autonomously in a field-based role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced in using CRM/ERP systems.
  • A degree in business, sales, or related field is desirable.
