Job description

MIDAS, one of the UK's most successful inward investment agencies, is seeking a new Business Development Executive to support the team in attracting companies to establish a presence in Greater Manchester.

You will need a passion for Manchester, a positive and proactive attitude, some work experience in a busy commercial sales environment and an interest in the Creative, Digital & Tech (CDT) sectors.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Sector and Business Development Manager (BDM) with the delivery of MIDAS’ core services to existing and potential investors in Greater Manchester and assist MIDAS to meet annual inward investment targets from the MIDAS business plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the team by project managing the delivery of MIDAS services to new and existing investors to achieve annual targets for inward investment success and job creation.
  • Daily management of web/telephone and email-based enquiries, referring to relevant Head of Sector/BDM for project management direction.
  • Undertake desk-based research to support proposition development and conduct lead-generation activity.
  • Provide after-care support to new investors as directed by the Head of Sector/BDM.
  • Monitor FDI (Foreign Direct Investor) alerts and other relevant sources of data.
  • Support Head of Sector/BDM in general business development activity such as attendance at events, conferences, networking, client meetings, and in-visits.
  • Update CRM maintenance and provide management information reports when required.
  • Adopt a collaborative and positive working style with all internal and external colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Experienced within a sales and marketing or project coordination role.
  • A confident storyteller and communicator.
  • Comfortable in a client-facing position.
  • Project-focused and can deliver on time.
  • Innovative and ambitious.
  • Tenacious, detail-driven and able to support the team reliably.
  • A proactive self-starter who brings energy and accountability to the team.
  • Able to share your passion for Manchester with clients, whilst helping to drive efficiency and productivity, through evaluating and developing the support provision required. Knowledge of one or more of GM’s key ‘Frontier Sectors’ would be advantageous.
