Job summary

First Bus Central Services in Glasgow seeks an Operations Supervisor to manage driver and vehicle flow from the Caledonia depot, ensuring safe, punctual and cost-effective service delivery. You will resolve daily operational issues, oversee schedules, and provide updates to the line manager.

The role demands overseeing shifts, driving performance improvements, and liaison with frontline staff and unions. Full-time position with a focus on operational excellence in a busy depot.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in bus/transport.
• Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Road Traffic Act.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams and to drive operational best practice.
• Strong planning and prioritising abilities.
• Customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Forward plan on-the-day service requirements to end-of-day and future days.
• Monitor service punctuality and availability in a smaller depot.
• Support driver queries and oversee driver reporting.
• Record drivers' hours, duties and attendance in the DAS GUI.
• Maintain records of operational standards and performance.
• Analyse information to drive continuous improvement of service.
• Ensure drivers' vehicle allocations and on-time departure.
• Deal with customer queries and hand over across shifts.
• Coordinate with depot engineering and trade union representatives.
• Comply with requisition to pay procedures.
