Job summary

The Abbey in Staffordshire is seeking a Bulk Driver on a permanent basis. You will operate a fleet of Volvo vehicles, delivering to customers with 45 hours per week, typically 12:00–22:00, Monday to Friday.

The role offers stability and a clear schedule in a busy logistics environment. We value trust and autonomy—you’ll plan routes, load and unload at sites as needed, and complete daily vehicle inspections.

Qualifications

• Class 1 Driving licence is required.
• Driver CPC qualification card is required.
• Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them.
• Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and safe road use.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry from a fleet of Volvo vehicles, ensuring on-time deliveries.
• Work 45-hour weeks with 9-hour shifts, typically Monday–Friday.

What You'll Do

• You will drive a lorry from our exceptional fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old. They are a joy to drive, and are equipped to a high specification, including fridges, leather seats and many more optional extras to make sure you're comfortable.
• Most of our sites run from Monday to Friday, with 45-hour working weeks, and 9-hour shifts per day which typically start at 7/8 am. Our well-organised shift schedules mean you often know in advance where you'll be driving, taking the stress out of your day.
• We don't micromanage our drivers. We trust them to get the job done and plan their own routes.

Key Role Responsibilities

• The average number of stops in a shift is 4 to 6, so there's plenty of time to enjoy being out on the open road - but you’ll still be home again at the end of every 9-hour shift.
• You’ll make sure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages and Yorks get to and from customers bang on time.
• At some sites, the goods will be loaded or unloaded for you - at others, you'll need to do it yourself.
• Scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks will sometimes be part of your day.
• You’ll be responsible for inspecting your vehicle and trailer every day and completing a Defect Report if necessary.
