Jump Lane Recruitment is working with a leading express parcel and freight forwarding company to recruit a Business Development Manager to join their Colnbrook team. You will prospect, build relationships, and develop proposals to win new business.

The role requires a track record in courier/logistics sales, strong negotiation and bid-writing skills, and the ability to manage pipelines end to end. A competitive salary up to £50k with generous commission awaits.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of winning business in courier/logistics.
• Experience writing bids or tenders desirable.
• Strong project planning and financial modeling to support bid activity.
• Ability to prioritise, multi-task and meet targets and deadlines.
• Familiarity with CRM databases and strong IT skills.

The Package:

Salary: Up to £50k

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prospect for potential new clients and turn this into increased business.
• Cold call as appropriate within your market or geographic area to ensure a robust pipeline of opportunities.
• Meet potential clients by growing, maintaining, and leveraging your network.
• Identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization.
• Research and build relationships with new clients.
• Plan approaches and pitches.
• Work with team to develop proposals that speaks to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives.
• Participate in pricing the solution/service.
• Handle objections by clarifying, emphasizing agreements and working through differences to a positive conclusion.
• Use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate appropriately.
• Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
• Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs and develop revenue streams.
• Arrange and participate in internal and external client debriefs
• Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market and creative trends.
• Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services and products
• Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to an increase in sales.

Key Skills:

• Be a business development professional with a track record of working in multi-faceted courier/logistics organisation. Knowledge and experience of express environment is essential.
• Have a good technical background
• Have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain lasting relationships
• Have strong oral and written communication skills and a track record of winning business
• Experience of writing successful significant sized bids or tenders is desirable.
• Have excellent project planning skills and be competent in financial modeling to support bid activity.
• Have the ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to targets and deadlines, both independently and as part of a team.
• Be familiar with CRM databases and possess strong IT skills.
• Extensive Experience and Proven Track Record in a Similar Field Required.
