Job Description

Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.

This is a unique opportunity to join Crisis’ Impact, Research and Practice Team and contribute to the growth of Built for Zero UK, a pioneering movement to end homelessness. Working alongside local authorities and partner organisations, Built for Zero uses data, collaboration and systems change approaches to transform local homelessness responses. The programme empowers communities to identify barriers, test solutions and deliver measurable, lasting reductions in homelessness, with the ultimate goal of ensuring homelessness is rare, brief and non-recurring.

Location: From any Crisis Skylight in the UK - Working from home is an option in line with Crisis’ hybrid working policy, with the expectation for regular travel across the UK

About the role

We are looking for an experienced individual who is passionate about driving data and evidence-led change to improve outcomes for people experiencing homelessness. This is an exciting opportunity to join Built for Zero at a pivotal stage of its development and play a key role in embedding and scaling the approach across the UK. The role requires excellent coaching, facilitation and influencing skills, with the ability to bring together diverse stakeholders around a shared goal, navigate complexity and competing priorities, and support communities to identify and overcome systemic barriers. The successful candidate will inspire confidence, resilience and continuous improvement, creating the conditions for lasting systems change.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting and delivering systems change through partnership working, relationship building and collaboration, with the ability to convene diverse stakeholders around a shared purpose and drive collective action towards measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to identify barriers to progress, navigate complex challenges and facilitate constructive problem-solving, balancing support and challenge while maintaining positive, trusting and productive relationships.
  • Experience of working within, or a strong understanding of, local authority environments and the challenges of delivering sustainable change in complex systems, together with the ability to influence and work effectively across organisational and professional boundaries.
  • Strong project and improvement management skills, with experience of working in iterative, agile and data-informed ways to support continuous learning, adaptation and delivery of outcomes.

You may have experience in:

  • Designing and facilitating high-quality workshops and learning environments that build capability, challenge thinking and support collaborative problem-solving.
  • Working across multiple localities or partnerships, providing tailored support and adapting your approach to different contexts, challenges and stakeholders.
  • Delivering or supporting homelessness, housing or wider public service provision, with a strong understanding of the operational and strategic challenges facing local systems.
  • Acting as a coach, consultant or change facilitator, helping organisations navigate complexity, use data and evidence effectively, and achieve sustainable improvements in outcomes.

We believe diversity is a strength, and our aim is to make sure that Crisis truly reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards our organisation being a place where everyone can thrive and make their best contribution to our mission of ending homelessness for good. We know that the more perspectives, voices, and experiences we can bring to this work, the better. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of homelessness, and people from all marginalised groups, communities and backgrounds.
